RAYE - THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE

I know this album was a polarizing release for some Pop Square members, but I’m still rinsing it on the regular.

Anyway, stream “Joy”!

This is gonna be that album for me that gets me hooked for a week, then i forget it for a long time and then it will hook me again, lovely

The album is fine but just a bit too self-indulgent for me at times. Definitely a few tracks that I could fully love if they were a minute shorter or didn’t turn into a completely difference genre (looking at you, The WhatsApp Shakespeare) but it is what is.

For whatever it’s worth, Click Clack Symphony did finally hit me in the way it was intended. The video and her joy in it really sold me on it.

Speaking of, she posted this the other day and it made me scream

“spent all the budget on the giant door”

I was not a Raye fan prior to this album but it made me retroactively check out her last album and now I’m obsessed with both. I absolutely Stan the over-indulgence. Obsessed.

I need a Raye album full of ‘Winter Woman’s’ and ‘Escapism’s’

I’m not quite sure what I made of the album in the end, but I went to her concert last month and she’s just such a joy live. I’m pretty sure she’ll remain a must-see for me whenever she comes 'round here.
