PopSquare - Thread Titling Guidelines

Hey everyone! The moderating team has come together to manage thread titles for a smooth, enhanced experience and a standardized, uniform format that can make navigation simple and straightforward for all current users and hopefully more, once registration comes about. These are some ideas that we would like to put forth, but we are also clearly open to suggestions, recommendations, comments, and feedback.

1) Here’s an example of how we’d like things to go, as a tentative, theoretical example:

A) Ariana Grande has teased her 8th album, posting an IG picture. That’s clear grounds that she’s working on a new record. Another form of confirmation might be a new record mentioned in an interview, talking about new music with an influencer, posting themselves that they’re working on new music, “back in the studio”, “our new record is underway”, etc:

  • Thread created: Ariana Grande - 8th Album

Then it acts mostly as a general album discussion thread until actual music is announced/released.

B) When actual music is announced (such as singles!) to kick off the era, this is grounds to update the title ahead of album release so that the forum overall can know that substantial movement is finally happening! Until the album title is released, feel free to update the thread title with any pre-release singles! You can also keep “+ 8th Album”, if you want, but that’s optional.

  • Thread edited: Ariana Grande - “single name” (release date)

C) Ariana Grande releases the name of her eighth album, with/without release date:

  • Thread edited: Ariana Grande - petal (TBD)
  • Thread edited: Ariana Grande - petal (July 31st)
  • Thread edited: Ariana Grande - petal (Summer 2026)

Use “TBD” if date isn’t yet known, or if it is: the full month and date / season. The team has suggested that once the album title is known, no further singles need be included as it streamlines presentation, such as “Bring Your Love” + CONFESSIONS II versus CONFESSIONS II (July 3rd), with the latter being a shortened version until release.

Once the album is out, the release date can/should be removed. The music is available to all to hear; the build-up is over.

(This all applies to EPs and mini-albums as well!)

2) Unique situations / etc. :upside_down_face:

The guidelines above are really for those artists that are active and relatively straightforward with their releases. A situation like the theoretical one above is slick, to the point, and easy to follow. Not all active artists release that way, and that’s fine! Each situation will be different and we ask that you use your best judgment. If the moderating team makes edits, it is not personal, it is just to streamline and contribute to the readability of the forum. Here’s another example for singles alone:

A) Jennifer Lopez announces a one-off single, but no album information. She’s actively touring and performing but has not confirmed a record:

  • Jennifer Lopez - “Single Title” (November 6th) + Future Plans

This indicates that she has music coming and is active. Whatever changes occur, the thread title can be edited to reflect these. If no album is on the horizon, then single releases can simply be added as they come along. If an album is mentioned/confirmed, then the titling format will transfer to the theoretical Ariana example’s format above.

But this is all early days as far as finding a structure to run along the forum and have some kind of uniformity. Again, this comes from the moderators, and we are open to suggestions and ideas as this helps to give a better direction for the future. Please drop a line below so that we can review and consider any feedback from you all.
