Oh, this is such a jam! Paula’s Head Over Heels album, captured the whole slinky vibe of mid 90s R&B so well. Must play that album again very soon come to think of it.
I always hear Liberian Girl when I listen to If I Were Your Girl
It’s a shame that Paula and the charts were done past 1995. I guess times were changing.
I watch this every time I need to go harder on the stairclimber. I wish she got more recognition for her impact!
It is a shame but I loved that she came back with something a bit edgier with My Love is For Real. I think it’s one of her best songs.
Yes. A Paula classic I think. Even like the Strike cover version of it as well.
If I could do it once again
I’d never let the bastard in

ICONIC**
Head Over Heels does feel a tad dated for 1995 or undercooked but it is a solid album.
I want Paula deluxe reissues or are least vinyl reissues.
Plus the gap between that album and Spellbound was far too long, momentum was gone.
Head Over Heels is a great album yep yep! Love Don’t Come Easy is an underrated bop.
Alliwannadois stay right here on the floor
Get lost in the night and dance like there’s no tomorrow
Don’t care about the sunrise
Somebody please just hit the lights
Alliwannadois dance like there’s no tomorrow!
I often find myself thinking: Where is God when you need Him, because this does not make sense.
These resurfacing a forever kii
Paula really had the girlies pressed.
This is truly one of the best pop performances ever!! Her style of dancing and choreography also feels a bit more CLASSIC and less “of its time” than some choreos or performances of let say, Janet and MJ.
I don’t think it was ever released officially, but this song got an Akon remix and it kind of goes off!
Was this on a pregame playlist of mine in 2008, before I ever properly listened to her back catalog?
Paula could do Heartbreak Hotel, but could Nippy do I’m Just Here for the Music?
Of course there were a slew of decent remixes. Of course they weren’t all released commercially. And of course most of them aren’t on streaming…
Why did she wait so long for a follow up? The commercial drop off in those few years was insane.
