After a seven year hiatus, one of the best recent British rock bands, Marmozets, are back with a brand new album CO.WAR.DICE on 22/05/2026!
Now featuring a slightly trimmed down group size of mostly siblings, Rebecca Bottomley [nee Macintyre] (lead vocals), Jack Bottomley (guitar), Sam Macintyre (guitar/bass/vocals) and Josh Macintyre (drums).
Formerly signed to Roadrunner Records, they’re now back under the indie label Nettwerk Music Group.
They’ve been consistently dropping killer singles since November, starting with A Kiss From A Mother. Cut Back’s my current favourite. If there’s one thing you can say about this band, they’ve always put out a healthy amount of music videos over their entire career:
Still have lots to learn about how this place functions so I’m not going to attempt tagging people yet, but we have to make sure the rock gals in here check this out!
Been following them since 2011 -and let’s just say they sounded quite different back then- and I can’t wait to hear what they have in store after all this time. Becca remains such a ferocious frontwoman.
I’ve quickly come to the conclusion that I really don’t like this finalised album track order, as it’s extremely front heavy based off all of the admittedly stronger material singles.
After giving it a couple of spins, I actually much prefer the flow of what they’d recently shared how it was laid out originally (I honestly don’t even miss You Want The Truth not being included, as it’s basically a weaker Cut Back to my eyes):
Oh this is such a great comeback. I remember feeling whelmed by Knowing What You Now Know, even though it ended up growing on me, as I felt like it didn’t brim with as much energy as their debut but this follow up… hits right away and is a significant improvement over its predecessor! They finally found their lane, perfecting the dance-punk/garage rock style they’ve moved towards on the full-lengths, but increasing this time the grittiness all while nailing the more delicate and subdued moments (“Dandy”). Still loving the new wave and 90s rock vibes here and there as well.
Special mention to Becca who continues to impress me with her wide range. I hope they regain some momentum and that, again, Becca starts getting her flowers as a vocalist because she gives some insane performances (“A Kiss From A Mother”, “Mes Désirs”) on this thing. Welcome back, Marmozets!
