Ellie Goulding - “Black Prada Dress” + I Know Too Much (September 4th)

Visualiser just dropped

This is definitely better than the live version. I don’t know if I’m really getting the same specific “multiple albums mixture” thing that some of you are saying, outside of the lyrical winks to Lights and Delirium.

If anything, its structure and production almost makes this feel slightly more OST-y in vibes to me with how it’s trying to be this lyrically bittersweet but euphoric sounding moment.

Anyway, any new song that has her paired with piano and violin is overall a good thing, and this is her best era starter since Flux for that reason (ignoring if Close To Me technically counts).

Honestly, its existence really makes me wish they’d not bother to release Destiny as a whole ass single and just stuck it on a Clevatess album, instead, as I’d noticed a lot of people (and both ex and non-fans) enjoy its unexpected shoegaze direction and I assume they’re likely to be tuning out of the rest of this new stuff.

Even after 16+ years of stanning, I’m in awe of her

I really like this…she has a much stronger discography then people give her credit for.

It is driving me crazy, the verses are reminding me of another song but I can’t put my finger on it…the part where she sings ‘I’m trying to be a Hollywood baby, cause you made me think London hates me’. This sounds exactly the same as another song…

Loving this return to Halcyon. Her voice fits so well with string and choir-forward songs.

Brilliant. I can hear ‘Love Me Like You Do’ in it but it’s very debut & Halcyon as well. It sounds expensive.

Black Prada Dress is fantastic

Wasn’t sure on my first listen, but it’s grown on me already. Not getting Lights or Halcyon at all but it’s really nice.

Well, I love this. The violins are a little X Factor Winner recap, but it’s gorgeous.

Now this is the kind of songwriting I crave from her. The production is somehow both extremely generic yet very strange and quirky at the same time.

It’s a good song. Need to give it some more listens. It’s not an immediate hit for me, but I think it’ll grow on me. I do agree Destiny is the better song.

Not Ellie Goulding and Florrie releasing their best songs since 2012 on the same day.

I’m getting Virgin era Lorde from this a bitsy, I love it.

Yeah this is lovely. Not a smack-you-over-the-head big lead, but it’s a good sign of things to come.

I agree Fantasy was better (hopefully it makes the deluxe), but this does make me excited for the album.

They actually share the same mixing engineer in ‘Mark “Spike” Stent’, as I’ve recently seen a rather fun simultaneous play of it and What Was That.

This is very Lorde goes to Eurovision. I don’t think this is the kind of music that’s in the charts right now, which gives me hope that she’s following her own instincts for once, and possibly intentionally studying her back catalogue for inspiration. It’s tacky in a 2010s Tumblr, endearing way and feels a lot more like her than whatever she’s tried to be in the last decade.

Yeah this kinda slaps???

The new song debuting on Jools Holland is apparently called Four Seasons.
