From the first time I heard Surveillance, Diana Gordon captured my attention and she has been at the top of my favorite artists list ever since. What makes my connection to her music special: I have lived my entire life in the Netherlands except for seven months in Sydney Australia. During that time Diana Gordon blew up in Australia because Dirty Talk was a number one hit. She released her album With the Music I Die exclusively there and I got it signed at a record store in Sydney’s gay district. I still have the photo I took with her, it is the only celebrity photo I have ever taken.
Her music is just fantastic. Diana’s voice is incredible in her more dance-focused records, as well as the R&B and pop records. The Doleo EP is one of my favorite projects in music. Other than that, Higher is one of my favorite songs ever and Wolverine is another standout track. The Wasted Youth EP partly got me trough the Covid pandamic. Diana Gordon’s music deserves so much more recognition than it gets.
