One of the most iconic girl groups of all time.

And remember, it’s better to go home than to not have luggage.

My first concert! Was a Michelle bias back in the day. Still want to learn the routine for Lose My Breath, the ultimate dance battle.
I still remember being ten years old and the music video for Lose My Breath coming on TV and being absolutely mesmerised. What a comeback.
They were my first concert too! It was the TRL Tour with Nelly, Eve, 3LW and Dream (Jessica Simpson wasn’t at my date). I have my tour program somewhere. I wish I still had the Survivor shirt that was basically like a dress on me when I was a child.
Mine was the Destiny Fulfilled tour, so I also got to see the first glimpse of Solo Beyonce’s sheer power on Crazy In Love.
Didn’t get any merch though, remember being disappointed at 15 I was too young for the Cater 2 U audience participation, but makes total sense now.
I’m so jealous as someone who’s from the UK. 3LW are still one of my all time favourites.
Also I’m feeling quite wistful about the other place closing and have had this on rotation.
25 years of Survivor! And an acknowledgment from Queen Bey herself on Instagram:
My elementary school best friend and I bonded over our shared love of Destiny’s Child back in the day. We were supposed to go see the TRL tour together back in 2001, and I was SO hyped. His dad was meant to get the tickets and then at the very last minute he said he wouldn’t take us because Destiny’s Child was ‘for girls.’ Instead he decided to take us to a monster truck rally for which he tried and failed to buy scalper tickets and so we didn’t even get to see that. I was devastated and our friendship never recovered.
I never had the privilege of ever seeing Destiny’s Child live. Still, they were a huge part of my childhood, especially during the Destiny Fulfilled (2004) era, when I truly became conscious and started to become an actual music consumer at age 6 lol. I distinctly remember watching the Destiny Fulfilled… and Lovin’ It tour DVD on Channel 4 and excitedly talking about it at school the next day. The highlight of the show for us was Kelly rubbing that bald man’s head.
Gosh, they were a phenomenal group. I hope they do something together soon.
One of their best deep cuts. Wish it wasn’t excluded from the US album - it should be on all editions!
I honestly can’t think of a more fitting album title than Destiny Fulfilled. Every listen is so fulfilling and I love how it unfolds like a story from meeting a guy, to falling blindly in love, to realising he’s no good, and finally finding your self-worth. The closing trio of Free/Through With Love/Love really gets to me.
The vibe also feels noticeably different compared to their previous albums. Less about dominance, more about unity. It brings a kind of warmth that the other 3 didn’t quite have. It almost feels like you’re listening to vulnerable exchanges between genuine friends rather than the popular girl boasting to her minions.
Yup, perfectly put. Great production throughout and great vocal performances (those background vocals!!!) too. Such a fitting album to bookend their discography if they never end up releasing another one.
Never change Michelle!
Where are the With Me stans? I’ve always felt like it’s such an underrated bop in their discography, especially this remix:
I love this song so much
I wonder why it wasn’t a single in the US?
It was, it just didn’t get a physical release.
Yeah that’s what I meant. Back then it was all about physical releases.
I saw them on the Survivor Tour (how was this 25 years ago?!!) with Solange supporting and they were phenomenal. Even though they’ve made the odd appearance together, as everyone else has said, a reunion would be incredible.
