Classical Releases (Genre Discussion)

There’s a few genre discussion threads, so I thought I’d make one for classical releases.

Use this space to talk about opera, lieder, orchestral, choral, or even classical crossover recordings.

Xavier Sabata just released an album themed around Orlando, the subject of Vivaldi’s Orlando Furioso, and it’s EXCELLENT. Immediately one of my favorite releases of the year.

Also on the countertenor beat, I really enjoyed Divine Impresario by Randall Scotting. It’s a tribute to a famous castrato named Nicolini.

The soprano side has had several good releases as well, like Julie Roset’s album of French songs called M’a dit Amour. It feels light and free in a way that I really like.

Grace Davidson’s A Thousand Charms, Ruby Hughes’ Amidst the Shades and Kitty Whately’s Through the Centuries all come recommended as well.
