Get ready to rock out.

I feel like this is going to give, in the same vein as BeyoncĆ©, ā€œthis is not a rock album, it’s a Charli XCX albumā€ and I’m looking forward to it.

She’s just a rock chick. She likes to rock out.

Her posts recently about how inspired she feels are promising, but reading the interview it sounds like she’s doing rock music because she doesn’t know how to follow up brat.

Given the brat remix album was largely about brat’s success too - I wonder what else she has to say

I think she’s always known how to follow Brat up, since she’s been speaking about this sort of album for quite a while now. The remix album seemed to be more of a real time reaction, and based on the article, this seems to be more about her relationship to art as a larger concept.

I think it’s instructive to recall her Subway Takes episode – ā€œmusic is not important, artistry isā€ – and the stricter production & songwriting parameters she set for herself on Brat (which helped it feel ā€œelevatedā€ & distinct from her catalogue despite pulling from similar themes and sonics she’d played with for the prior 9 years).

I really trust her, music- and concept-wise. How she spins this in interviews (and how the press and public receive it) is an entirely different story…

So where’s the first single @charles

Manifesting that this sounds somewhere between Thy Slaughter and Kelela’s Idea 1.

I demand a South American Tour, not doing any Brat show here was a crime. And NO, the DJ set in Brazil doesn’t count.

She can’t follow up brat with another dance project esp since the remix album extended the era and made it feel twice as long. So it’s understandable she feels the need to pivot.

I for one am ecstatic that she teased rock as a hint for the new sound.

A few times during the last era, I actually thought it would be a really interesting sound for her. After all, it’s not too far off from her roots, and with influences from the latest stuff A.G. and Finn have been doing, I think it could turn out to be super interesting.

Im lowkey a Sucker defender, or what maybe the ethos of what Sucker WAS before label bullshit. Theres some references that she mentioned and mined at the time id love for her to explore more, and of course all the inspiration shes mentioned since.

I think she can make something very compelling with where shes at now.

Shout out to her cover of ā€œAllergic to Loveā€. Such an energetic, punky, racket of a song (in the best way) with a soundscape that I wish played a larger role in the record. @atlantic you guys may have made up but you still have alot to answer for

She’s always let the pendulum swing between projects. It makes sense it’s swung further after the success of the last album.

I’m perched.

I have faith in Sucker (Charli’s Version but Entirely Different Since It’s What She Wanted to Accomplish Prior to Label Intervention).

I’m still kinda on my Charli journey. I really enjoyed Brat, but I actually got into How I’m Feeling Now last year when some of the songs were played at Manchester Pride and I Shazammed them (dd). I genuinely love that record now, and I’m excited to delve a little bit further although I’m somewhat doing it backwards. Perched for whatever she brings to the table next!

I hope she discovers prog rock while making this album. I need a symphonic 20-minute orchestral rock masterpiece from her. I see the vision.
