Chantal Kreviazuk has been singing and songwriting since the 90s. She emerged in 1996 with Under These Rocks and Stones, a sprawling slice of pop rock in the wake of an Alanis Morissette world. She’d go on to release a handful of other studio albums, all with her trademark topline melody skills. What If It All Means Something (2002) bore some moderate pop hits outside of her native Canada, including In This Life and Time. Her songwriting skills brought her to the doors of pop greats like Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, and even Britney Spears’ fan fav deep cut If I’m Dancing. Chantal’s voice oscillates between gentle and gruff within a single phrase. She just released In My Own Voice featuring her takes on the songs she’s written for others. You’ll read this list and be amazed at what she’s contributed. The Lilith Fair Bonnie McKee.
