After much ballyhooing from fan spaces and cryptic tape sending, The Brothers SandersEoin have finally announced their long-awaited fifth (!!) album, Inferno, which is dropping at the end of next month.
I am very very excited for this. I had essentially given up hope that we’d ever get anything after Tomorrow’s Harvest (which I also unfortunately wasn’t crazy about) but this looks to be a return to their more oc/cult-focused, “haunted PSA” niche, which couldn’t be more up my own personal alley.
I truly can never decide between Music Has The Right To Children or Geogaddi as their best album; they’re both so beautifully crafted. Make sure you check out their EPs and the Old Tunes mixtapes too!
Been a fan for such a long time, and started worrying that I will never experience another BoC rollout. Tomorow’s Harverst’s one was so brilliant, and the album itself a prophecy, basically. I’m glad they are sticking with a darker side of things
Love Boards Of Canada but whenever there’s a list of something like the scariest albums/pieces of recorded music, hey Scott Walker and Throbbing Gristle you’re always on there, I’m surprised because Boards of Canada are rarely featured and everything about Geogaddi especially creeps me tf out to the point I’m worried about snakes manifesting in my house.
When the distorted numbers station little girl voice starts counting in Gyroscope:
It’s weird because I agree that it is unsettling and yet…lowkey calming at the same time? There’s a serenity in its Satanic bent to me - 1969 is definitely somewhere in my BoC Top 5.
Although not a follower of hseroK divaD she is a devoted Branch Davidian
BoC hold a special place in my heart because they can equally terrify and calm me. A friend from school got me into music has a right.. and geogaddi just before the campfire headphase was released.
That album, along with music for airports has been my ambient go to for sleeping since. Soon after dayvan cowboy, im out.
This project looks great. No worries on the quality from these people.
They sent out VHS’s and this was one of them. Haunting, calming… visually brilliant.
Their early stuff is still the best but looking forward to hearing what they’ve been up to for the past 10+(!) years. I remember there were rumours about a boxset of unreleased material (also more than a decade ago lol) which I’d be more here for than new music tbh.
For example this eerie banger needs an official release:
A friend of mine was one of the lucky bastards who got a tape in the mail. He has nothing to play it with at the moment but I hope someday I’ll get to see it.
Seeing some very polarizing reviews, 2/5s and 5/5s flying around. All the fan reaction from the listening parties has been very positive too so I’m REALLY optimistic that this is gonna be great.
Finished watching Backrooms, and just a few seconds into the end titles I knew that it must be a new BoC track the’ve used (it was The Word Becomes Flesh). Such a great (and thematically appropriate) surprise
Tr*mp’s White House using BOC’s music and visual aesthetic without their permission for one of their terminally incelbrained Twitter posts on the week of Inferno’s release is such a shitty fucking move. The brothers and Warp have condemned it, as well they should.
