One of my favourite discoveries for 2026. I never really paid much attention before, but wow, what a star she was destined to be and we were robbed way too soon when she was taken. One In A Million is such a fantastic album.

One In A Million is just an incredible album. Top 5 of all time for me. It transports me back to the 90s so effortlessly and yet some of the tracks sound like they could have been released yesterday.

It’s appeal is timeless. Especially in the title track.

These are the holy trinity for me.

A Summer Madness sample always just works for me, but particularly on A Girl Like You. It makes me nostalgic for the summers of my childhood.

Now is the perfect time of the year to get One In A Million on.

Forever one of my favourites. Self-titled is the better album for me; the multi-genre experimentation and ethereal vibes just push it over One In A Million for me - but I have endless love for that album too. Heartbroken is probably my favourite from it - 4 Page Letter and the title track aside. Also; the artwork for it, and all the singles, is just excellent… she was just so darn cool.

This! The One In A Million art direction is just so damn cool. I hate that we don’t have more of it in HQ. But I’ve had some of the 12" singles from the era on the wall at one point.

I genuinely dislike how modern social media speaks of her vocal ability. She was a technical vocalist and she knew very well her instrument.

I have that If Your Girl Only Knew 12"! I have a few others from the One In A Million era too I collected when they were the only way to get her music on vinyl… some really great remixes!

This was always a favourite of mine.

I still find it astounding that she filmed two of her best music videos in the space of two weeks. The self-titled era saw her evolve in so many exciting ways – I’d love to know how she’d have brought it all together on tour.

The latter video is of course a difficult watch, as we know that had it never been filmed, we’d still have her with us. That said, she looks like a literal angel, especially the final shot drifting up toward the light.

Iconic and timeless. This still feels current in 2026.

I really feel like her influence only becomes clearer and crystalises over time. There are so many artists, songs, and sounds that I hear, and either immediately think of her, or you can at least draw a through-line back to her. Some of her music still sounds incredibly current today, and you do wonder how she’d have evolved into the modern music landscape.

I think had she lived, she really would have become the Queen Of R&B.

Try Again STILL sounds like the future to me

Absolutely - plus she sang Journey To The Past live at the Oscars!?

Many of these people’s faves would never… and they have the nerve to imply she can’t sing!?

Today’s Hip Hop and R&B just can’t ever compare. In a league of her own.

Also always came with her soundtrack additions. Oscar nominated in her teens! Not everyone has that.

That song is so good, hated how people paid it dust throughout the years.
