Yes, meant UK picture disc for Holiday, got confuse with all things early 90s Madonna there!
I remember being so excited about what the Rescue Me video would be like, theyâd surely be throwing millions at it I thought, and then we got nothing. I still imagine it to this day! I have heard a reason for the lack of video was that Rescue Me was never intended to be a US single (!!) and Warner only caved in and released it once radio picked up on it and made it a big radio hit. Iâm pretty sure singles werenât allowed to chart without physical copies being available at that point in time, which is why it eventually debuted so high on the Hot 100 with all the airplay behind it.
I also think that Madonna was such a massive star that she didnât need to release promo videos or do publicity back then, she consistently charted with little or no promo back then. Why spend money on an expensive video when she didnât need it? Madonna was/is a very profitable business at the end of the day.
Then things changed as she went into the 90âs, the hits were no longer guaranteed after Sex, especially in the U.S.
An official music video for Rescue Me would have been just amazing and so iconic. Her visuals in the late 80s/early 90s is truly peak M for me.
